Should I retaliate? Do's and Don'ts

Don'ts

  • drain bank account.
  • shut off her cell phone.
  • monitor her every move.
  • cut up credit cards, cut up pictures, or destroy anything she values.
  • have an affair yourself.
  • tell all your close friends and family members all the gory details. They don't need to know. They can pray for you without details. Family members are biased. Don't speak ill of your wife to anyone (Rom. 12:17–21; Jer. 15:19; Eph.4:30–32).
  • grovel. It makes you look weak (Phil.2:4).
  • point the finger of blame at your wife.
  • give false compliments (Jer.15:19).

Do's

  • Be the leader.
  • Get into the Word.
  • Listen. (James 1:19–21)
  • Be Honest. (Phil 4:15 Speak the truth in love)
  • Admit your mistakes (Matt 7:3–5).
  • Ask for forgiveness (Matt 5:23–24).
  • Forgive your wife. But don't rush into it (Matt 18:21–22).
  • Fight for your marriage.
  • Protect your children.
  • Continue to support your wife financially.
  • Be strong.
  • Be confident. (Your strength will make you more attractive.)
  • Honor her (Rom. 12:9–10).
  • Love her unconditionally (Eph.5:28–29).
  • Think positively (Phil. 4:8–9).
  • Pray-- in all that is going on, don't forget to asdk God to change you.
  • Spend time with your wife-- make her a priority in your life.
